The French ambassador learned about green transition at Port of Hirtshals
Port of Hirtshals has recently hosted a visit from the French Ambassador, Christophe Parisot, during a tour of North Jutland. During his visit, the Ambassador learned more about the port's ambitious development plans and its efforts in green transition, including the activities of the port's development company, Greenport North.
Green energy and industrial symbiosis, where by-products from one company become valuable raw materials for another, were among the topics discussed when the French Ambassador, Christophe Parisot, visited Port of Hirtshals as part of his tour of North Jutland.
"It was a great pleasure to welcome the French Ambassador and introduce him to all the exciting activities related to the green transition at the port. Port of Hirtshals is at the forefront of utilizing green energy, industrial symbiosis, carbon capture and storage, hydrogen production, and the utilization of related by-products," said Per Holm Nørgaard, CEO of Port of Hirtshals.
The port's development company, Greenport North, also participated in the visit, with CEO Steen Harding Hintze providing more information, including circular economy initiatives at Port of Hirtshals.
"We are well on our way to achieving our goal of offering green energy in the form of heat, electricity, gas, cooling, hydrogen, and oxygen as a standard by 2027. Additionally, we are focused on our Smart Energy System, where surplus energy from companies can be reused in industrial symbiosis with other companies," said Steen Harding Hintze.
Anker Laden-Andersen, Chairman of Port of Hirtshals and also the French Consul in North Jutland, is pleased with the recent French visit to Northern Denmark.
"The relationship between France and Denmark, especially North Jutland, has always been strong, and with the Ambassador's visit, we have once again emphasized the positive and constructive relationship, while highlighting the numerous efforts in the green transition that Port of Hirtshals is actively engaged in," he stated.
In addition to his visit to Hirtshals, the French Ambassador also visited the GrønGas biogas plant in Hjørring, where work is underway to establish a complete industrial symbiosis between biogas production and the production of hydrogen and e-methanol based on green power from nearby wind turbines.
